Klondike Derby

Join us for the 2025 Klondike Derby at Seton Scout Reservation on January 26, 2025. The Klondike Derby aims to foster essential Scouting skills, camaraderie, and community involvement while challenging participants to adapt to winter conditions. Scouts and Webelos observers participate in various activities that require a Klondike sled to transport their gear through multiple challenges.

Key Details:

    •    Participants: All Scouts in the Greenwich Council and Webelow.

    •    Cost: $9 for youth, $5 for adults.

    •    Schedule: See leaders guide.

    •    Overnight: Units wishing to stay overnight must make reservations with the Council Office. 

    •    Activities: Events include shelter building, snowshoe relay, fire building, first aid, knot tying, and compass navigation. Patrols are judged on their preparedness, teamwork, and task execution.

    • Preparation: Participants should dress and be prepared for extreme winter conditions and bring essential equipment, such as a Klondike sled, first aid kit, and materials for fire building.

    •    Community Contribution: Scouts are asked to donate cans of chicken soup. Part of the soup will be used during the event, and the leftovers will be donated to charity.
